Clinical trials

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is investing more than £7 million in clinical trials which are improving treatments for patients with blood cancer across the UK.

Clinical trials test new drugs and treatments, or combinations of these in patients. These are vital for moving breakthroughs discovered in the laboratory onto hospital wards to treat patients.

We are currently committed to a range of trials involving adults and children with leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. We also invest in clinical studies that investigate interesting aspects of clinical trials as well as pay for support staff including research nurses.

In 2009 Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research established the Early Phase Trials Development team to help researchers plan clinical trials for patients with blood cancers in the UK, as quickly and efficiently as possible.

More recently Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research has launched a unique network of clinical trials centres, which will give blood cancer patients access to new life-saving drugs, sooner and improve survival rates.

This initiative called the Trials Acceleration Programme is an innovative clinical trials network that links 13 leading hospitals in the UK and will mean that patients have access to cutting edge treatments at their local hospital, more quickly.
