The Grimsby & District Branch have undertaken some fantastic fundraising for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, and 2012 has seen the Branch celebrate 50 years of their fundraising and support.
The Branch have put together a special 50th Anniversary booklet detailing their journey, from the founding of the Branch in 1962 to the present day where over £850,000 has been raised by the Branch to help beat blood cancers. From Bikeathons to Shopping Extravaganzas, the Branch have worked tirelessly to organise numerous events and activities to raise funds, and below Mrs Jean Lucas from the Branch provides some insight in to the booklet:
“To celebrate 50 years of fundraising by the Grimsby & District Branch, a publication has been put together marking the significant events which our committee has held throughout this time.
The Minute books, written so diligently by hand for the first thirty years by Mrs Jo Green a founder member, are nothing less than a social history of charity fund raising within a relatively small area of North Lincolnshire during this time. These books provided the information for the twenty eight page publication plus a selection of illustrations which various members of the committee collected over the years. It details how, over a fifty year period, our committee managed to raise the amazing sum of £855,297.86.”
All proceeds from the booklet go to Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, and if you would like to buy one of these publications (£3 each including postage), please contact Mrs J S Lucas on 01673 843804 or email@example.com.
Happy 50th Anniversary to the Grimsby & District Branch!
