Noticeboard

On the 11 and 12 June, the Shepton Mallet Caving Club held a 24 hour non-stop sponsored prusik – doing this for five minutes let alone 24 hours is challenging! Prusiking is the term used to describe ascending a rope using mechanical devices and a sit harness.

After 24 gruelling hours, by 12 noon on 12th June, the total distance prusiked was over 13,532 metres, surpassing all the goals that had been originally set. To date over £3000 has been raised for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research but donations can still be made online via JustGiving.

In addition to all the club members who prusiked, kept a record of the distance, supplied food and beer, SMCC would like to thank Tony Seddon of Starless River for being a last minute stand in prusiker, CHECC for their loan of the tents and the Bristol Exploration Club and Wessex Caving Club.
