  • Raise money

Setting up an online giving page with Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving is a simple and effective way to raise money.

Visit either website, select Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research as your charity and then create your own personal fundraising page. It’s the easiest way for your friends and family to sponsor you. Make sure to personalise your pages with photos and messages, keep a training blog, and share your page URL on social media.

Make sure you set a fundraising target. 80% of people raise more money with a fundraising target. Don’t worry if you don’t hit it, at least you gave it a shot!

    Social Media

Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram: all brilliant ways to get word of your challenge out to your friends and family.

Make use of your Facebook to track your progress from day one to event day.

Get your friends to snap you on those freezing cold runs and upload to Instagram.

Tweet your fundraising progress and interact with other runners taking on the same challenge.

Use Pinterest to gather inspiring pictures relating to your run or the work of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

    The Workplace

You may not realise it, but your workplace is a hotbed for fundraising activity! Make sure your colleagues know about the challenge you're taking on; add your fundraising page link to your email signature and plaster your work noticeboard with training pictures and information about the charity.

Sometimes those tried and tested fundraising methods are still the best. As well as your online fundraising page, make sure you keep a good old-fashioned paper sponsor form to hand. The odd fiver or tenner from a generous colleague will go far! To boost your total, get baking and ask colleagues to join you. Everybody loves a good cake sale at work.

    Be persistent

Try re-sending the link to your page one week before the event to get some last minute sponsors. Then send once more post-event. It's never too late - your fundraising pages stay open up to three months after you’ve taken part in the event!

    The Cause

Remind people of why you’re doing this. The money you raise will be invested in life-saving research to help improve the lives of thousands of people affected by blood cancer across the UK. By taking on this challenge you are helping improve and save the lives of men, women and children every day. To find out how the money helps read about some of the people affected by diseases like leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma and find out how we're beating blood cancer.
