About
Feel good factor and farewells at the Royal Albert Hall
The Calendar Girls have raised £3 million for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, inspired by the death of a much-loved husband, father and friend John Baker.
Their story has inspired one of the UK’s most successful films, the most successful touring play and is likely to beat the world record for amateur dramatic performances too.
The night was hosted by Alan Titchmarsh and the legendary Kevin Amos conducted the City of London Philharmonic Orchestra and the West End Chorus. There were many performances and special messages from a host of actors from the film, play and some of the biggest names in the London West End.
This unique show, devised and directed by Hugh Wooldridge of The Night of 1,000 Voices featured popular classics and songs from favourite shows such as Rent and Carousel, ending in true WI and Calendar Girls style, with a rousing chorus of Jerusalem.
